Chengdu's New Electric Buses, Routes Improve Public Transport Connectivity

On October 30, the launch ceremony for Chengdu Public Transport's "Connected Journeys, A Warm Chengdu" service initiative and the deployment of new buses and routes was held at the Sichuan Provincial Culture and Art Center.

The newly deployed fleet of 280 pure electric buses includes three models 8.5 m, 6.5 m, and 5.4 m . The 5.4m and 6.5m new energy mini buses are designed to nimbly navigate narrow roads such as community streets and alleys, seamlessly connecting existing bus routes with subway stations and closing the loop between communities and metro stations. The larger 8.5m model, meanwhile, focuses on peak-hour commuter demand, operating on express and trunk lines to deliver a convenient experience where "buses meet every commute, ready after you exit the station" and "the subway gets you to the station, the bus gets you home."

The new bus routes have also commenced operation simultaneously. The new ev bus features low-floor design with sensor-equipped anti-pinch doors(sliding doors), making boarding and alighting safer for the elderly and children. The flat interior floor, combined with expansive windows and ceiling-mounted handrails in select models, ensures smooth passage for passengers with strollers or luggage. Certain models are equipped with liquid-cooling battery technology to guarantee stable drive range, supporting longer-distance services. Amenities such as leather seats and USB charging ports comfortably meet the needs of short-distance commuters.
